Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne was elected Lietenant Governor of the State of Louisiana in November 2010 with 57% of the vote, filling the remainig year on an unexpired term. He previously served four years as Secretary of State and fifteen year in the State Senate. During his legislative service, he chaired the Senante Finance Committee and the Senate and Governmnetal Affairs Committee. In 2003, he was named National Repulican Legislator of the year. He is an active community volunteer, having hosted the Jerry Lewis Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for more than 25 years. He conducts a presentation entitled "Why Louisiana Ain't Mississippi" a lively and colorful look at Louisiana's culture, demography, history, music and politics. He is an attorney and graduate of Baton Rouge High School, Louisiana State University, and LSU Law School He is married to former Cathy McDonald. They have two grown sons, John and Michael.
Paul Arrigo - President & CEO - Baton Rouge Area Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2002. Prior to that time, he served as the Bureau's VP of Sales & Marketing since 1997. He is a native of New Orleans and has over 39 years of experience in hospitality marketing. Paul and his wife Melanie reside in Baton Rouge with their daughter, Lauren. Paul was in the original cast of "Meanwhile, Back At CafeDu Monde.. at the Myrtles Plantation in May 2010 and has been on board as a popular headliner and emcee in more than 8 shows.
Missy Crews - A Baton Rouge native and LSU graduate, Missy Crews is thrilled to be back in Louisiana. As a former Miss Louisiana, Missy also performed with the Miss America USO tour before moving to NYC where she worked in tv, film & print. Moving ot Charlotte, NC, Missy was on staff with the Children's Theatre of Charlotte serving as a writer, performer and director and continued her passion for youth development by serving as Director for the National program, "Best Friends - Best Men" in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system. Missy served as Marketing Director for the private music club, "Music With Friends" and most recently has worked with the Manship Theatre in BR as Speical Projects Director. Missy has two daughters, Susannah and Elizabeth.
Whitney Talbot Cushing - Owner, Culinary Therapy - A graduate of LSU, Whitney opened Culinary Therapy and provides healthy meals to families with professional parents who don't have time to cook. She was in the November 21, 2010, "Meanwhile, Back At Cafe Du Monde.. show and is excited to be on board again to share her funny and touching food story.
Jeff Kleinpeter - Emcee - President of Kleinpeter Dairy Farms - A native of Baton Rouge, Jeff attended Episcopal High School and graduated from LSU with a degree in Marketing. Jeff worked in construction for 7 years before joining the family business in 1987 when his Dad bought the business from his brothers. With a wonderful team, including 1,400 cows, Kleinpeter Farms Dairy has grown by leaps and bounds. They added Louisiana’s only ice cream plant in 2008, and hey’ve incorporated Louisiana Products into their ice cream flavors, including Louisiana Cane Sugar, Bruce Foods Sweet Potatoes, Bergeron’s Pecans, Ponchatoula Strawberries, Community Coffee, Aunt Sally’s Pralines, and Ruston Peaches just to name a few. And Jeff says, there’s more to come! Jeff and his wife, Debbie reside in Baton Rouge and their daughter, Taylor who attends Southweatern Louisiana in Hammond. Smiley Anders - Daily Columnist - The Baton Rouge Advocate - Smiley, who received B.A. and M.A. degrees in journalism from LSU, joined The Advocate in 1973 as business reporter after a 13-year career as a business journalist (he was oil and gas editor of The Shreveport Times and edited business publications for the Louisiana Farm Bureau and Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce). His column has won first place in the items category of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists' annual competition (the Herb Caen Award) on four occasions (in 1985, 1997, 2004 and 2005). He was named the first "Communicator of the Year" in 1975 by the Public Relations Association of Louisiana. He served as president of the Press Club of Baton Rouge in 1976 and 1996. He is married to the former Katherine Scales, has two childrena nd 6 grandchildren. Peggy Sweeney-McDonald - Created Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde ... in 2010 in her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and produces the event under her company, Superstar Events-LA. In 8 months the show has now been in 3 states, with over 26 events and over 150 headliners sharing their food stories. As President of SSE-LA, she has offices in Los Angeles and Baton Rouge, LA and offers a wide range of corporate meeting & event services and specializes in creative themes to ensure memorable events. A member of Screen Actors Guild, she has worked in television commercials, film and theatre for over 20 years. She produced the tv pilot of "Meanwhile, Back At Cafe Du Monde..." and has several film projects in development. John Gray - Jazz Artist & Teacher - John is a professional trumpet player and educator. He performs a wide range of music genres including jazz, funk, R&B, as well as classical with various groups including The JGray Jazz Trio, The Soul/Funk band, The Michael Foster Project and The Soul Jukeboxx which have performed for numerous events in and around South Louisiana for Festivals, Government officials and Organizations. He has been profiled and written about for local and national publications such as 225 Magazine, The Advocate, Bankers Travel and more. John was the closing headiner for several "Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde..." BR events and appears in the tv pilot!
Victoria Greene - A Southern California transplant, resides in Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with 27 years of sales and marketing experience in the consumer packaged goods and food industries, with an extensive background in management, promotional planning and sales. Additionally, she has done training and motivational speaking. But her passion is working with Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB). She volunteers in various areas including fundraising, escorting distinguished guests to events and performing on-air as a spokesperson/anchor during live pledge drives. Victoria appeared in the November 21st show of "Meanwhile, Back At Cafe Du Monde..." and is excited to be on board again to share her memorable food story!
